Justin and Laverne Mayberry received word this week that Michelle Jansen, daughter of Mike and Kathy Mayberry Jansen of Crawfordsville, Indiana, will go to Reno, Nevada for the Nationals in cross country the 9th of December. Michelle's team placed third in Regionals in Chicago this past weekend. Michelle said the temperature was 24 degrees with a wind chill of 0 degrees.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Givson were honored at the Walla Walla Chamber of Commerce luncheon Tuesday for being top soil conservationists in their district.

Taking advantage of the Thanksgiving holiday, seven Boy Scouts of Troop 36 enjoyed an overnight camping trip at their cabin Saturday night. Attending were James Berry, Dick Brunton, Randy Culey, Russell Hays, Marvin Klundt, Fred Rankin and Bob Wright.

One Hundred Years Ago

December 4, 1925

W. H. Philips has sold his acreage tract east of Waitsburg to D. W. Casey of Eureka, Wash. The Caseys are not strangers to us having formerly owned the L. R. Foos place which adjoins the Philips place on the west.

The Thanksgiving holiday apparently had a good effect on the wheat market. Chicago opening figures Friday morning being 4-3/4 cents higher than the close on Wednesday. Prices range from $1.30 to $1.45 per bushel.

Rev. J. W. Adams has returned from a two-week sojourn near Kendrick, Idaho, assisting in raising funds for the completion of a church.

Look out girls, Reed Jonas has given his buggy a new coat of paint.

Willis Kinder purchased on-half interest in the New Meat Market the first of the month and the firm is now Kelly and Kinder. Mr. Kinder has had considerable experience in the cattle business and will doubtless prove a valuable addition to the firm.
