WAITSURG - The Waitsburg Middle School's boys' basketball team lost to DeSales on Wednesday, November 12, in Waitsburg.
The inexperienced B-squad team lost to a group of experienced Irish players 52-11. Highlights include Andre Navarrette, who hit a 3-point shot in the second quarter. Emerson Kiefel ended the game with four points, Abel Creeley and Myles Frasco scored two points each.
The A-squad team had a good first quarter and only trailed by one, 11-10, against the Irish. At halftime, the young Cardinals were down 20-16. The Irish took over in the second half, outscoring the Cardinals 25-11 to win 45-27.
Arrow Groom had a hot hand, scoring 14 points, Hudson Lynch scored seven, Ollivyr Dahlby scored four, and Nolan King had two points.
"I thought the boys gave tremendous effort and battled all the way to the final buzzer. I am excited to see how much we can grow over the course of the season, and I could not be prouder of how hard they competed today," said Coach Chris Andrews.
