At the Liberty:"Roofman"

DAYTON — Based on an unbelievable true story, “Roofman” follows Jeffrey Manchester (Channing Tatum), an Army veteran and struggling father. He turns to robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname: Roofman. After escaping prison, he hides inside a Toys “R” Us for six months, surviving undetected while planning his next move. But when he falls for Leigh (Kirsten Dunst), a divorced mom drawn to his undeniable charm, his double life begins to unravel, setting off a compelling and suspenseful game of cat and mouse as his past closes in. Cast includes Channing Tatum, Kirsten Dunst, Peter Dinklage, Ben Mendelsohn, Lakeith Stanfield, Juno Temple, Melonie Diaz, Uzo Aduba, Lily Collias, Jimmy O. Yang.

A critic on Rotten Tomatoes wrote “’Roofman’ is a compelling comedy-drama crowd-pleaser that shows Derek Cianfrance’s directorial eye in a different light. It also marks a fantastic acting showcase for Channing Tatum.”

“Roofman” received a consensus on its rating from the audience and critics at 85/86%. One viewer said, “Quite a showstopper, based on a true story. Channing Tatum”s acting makes us feel for the bad guy. Well done.” Rated R for language, nudity and brief sexuality and the runtime is 125 min.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2025 Fall Production, “A Christmas Carol.” There will be 14 shows this year, November 13 through December 6.

This year’s Liberty Theater presentation of “A Christmas Carol” combines the beloved story of the same title published by Charles Dickens in 1843, and the well-known short story, “The Gift of the Magi,” published by O. Henry in 1905. Woven together, these two beautiful stories become one tale, in which the hard-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge is confronted with the choice between a self-imposed hell and a redeeming, selfless love. The strength of charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence is the focus of this reimagined stageplay written by Mike Ferrians and Brenda Henderson, who have also collaborated in the creation of new music and lyrics to help bring the story to life, and produced by Touchet Valley Arts Council Productions. Directed by Mike Ferrians and Brenda Henderson.

Tickets are available online at http://www.libertytheater.org or at the box office Tues. & Fri. 2-5 or call (509) 382-1380.
