Corrie Gagnon, the 18-year-old daughter of Joe and JoAnn Gagnon of Waitsburg, recently learned she had won first prize in a Sulky of America-sponsored contest. Gagnon's wearable art entry, "Western Duster," topped all challengers in the Children 13-17 Division of the "Everyone Loves Sulky" Challenge 2000 contest. Sulky is a sewing-products manufacturer based in Harbor Heights, FL. Gagnon's entry, a duster beautifully decorated with horses, will be part of Sulky's traveling exhibit that promotes the Sulky contest. "Your entry will be traveling throughout the country for the next year as an inspiration to all those who see it," wrote Fred R. Drexler, managing partner of Sulky of America.

Ernest "Mik" Mikkelson was in command of the Salmon Bake this year and reports an approximate 1081 people went through the line at the annual commercial club event. Mik has been in charge since the affair started, and it seems to get bigger each and every year. Experience counts, however, and no matter what the size of the crowd, the people are served adequately, and there is usually a fish or two left over. Mik said that he usually figures on about a 13% increase from year to year. Our calculator tells us that it should hit 1221.5 people in 1976. Order more Olives, guys!
