Latah Trail in Idaho

Latah Trail in Idaho

TROY, IDAHO - Bicycling for about 30 minutes can strengthen your heart and improve circulation by increasing your heart rate. It can lower blood pressure, which reduces bad cholesterol levels. It is also fun.

A recent trip to Pullman to meet up with our cousins to ride the Latah Trail from Moscow, ID to Troy, ID was a great way to exercise while strengthening the heart.  The twelve-mile paved trail, one way, took us by gentle rolling hills covered with wheat.  We passed farmhouses and horses grazing.  We passed other bicyclists, walkers, and an older man in a wheelchair. There are benches along the trail for when you need a rest.  There is an outhouse, and if you get a flat tire, there is an air station with tools if you need them.

When we arrived in Troy, we parked our bikes and went to the HawtPlate, a small restaurant with an extensive menu. The waitstaff was friendly, and the cooks prepared great food at a fast pace. People were lined up at the door waiting for a seat.

After the twelve-mile trip back to Moscow, we decided to ride a bit of the Paradise Path around Moscow. The path took us by the University of Idaho campus.  We could have continued towards Pullman, but after the 30-mile ride, we decided to call it a day.

It would be wonderful to have a bike trail in our area.  What fun it would be to ride from Dayton, to Waitsburg, to Walla Walla, to Milton-Freewater.

Get outdoors and enjoy nature!
