DAYTON - Artisan vendors, food trucks, pop-up kitchens, live music, and activities filled Blue Mountain Station in Dayton for the 2025 Foodstock Festival.
The first Dayton festival was held in August 2014 on the 45th anniversary of the iconic music festival, Woodstock. This year would have been Foodstock's 11th anniversary; however, a year was skipped during the COVID-19 pandemic, making this the 10th. Although organizers moved the festival to July, the spirit remains true to its roots in groovy food and music.
A popular pop-up was Shewa Ethiopian Cuisine. The richly flavored food was a hit, and owner Emebet Madiso and her crew sold out most of their dishes by the end of the day.
If you missed out on Shewa's dishes at Foodstock, or want more, you are in luck. Its aromatic fare is available at the Walla Walla Farmers Market on Saturdays. Shewa also offers in-home cooking classes, sharing traditional recipes, spices, and techniques. The hands-on courses are for beginners to experienced home chefs, individuals, and groups.
