At the Liberty:"How to Train Your Dragon"

DAYTON — For more than a decade, DreamWorks Animation’s epic animated film trilogy about the friendship between a young man and his dragon has delighted audiences worldwide. The new live-action adaptation of the 2010 animated film “How to Train Your Dragon” is a new cinematic experience that continues the tradition.

The story takes place on the isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup stands apart. The inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast, Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society.

The Rotten Tomatoes audience rating is 97% and the audience was enthusiastic about the live-action adaptation of “How to Train Your Dragon.” One reviewer said, “With a lovable cast of characters sure to spark plenty of laughs and a heartfelt story that pulls at the heartstrings, it may just be the best live-action adaptation yet.” The RT critics were not as generous with a rating of 77%. A critic said, “Toothless is magnificent in live action. Every scale glimmers, every muscle moves, and the franchise’s beloved dragon’s signature expressiveness shines through every scene.”
