[Photo caption] At 14, Beka Adams may be the youngest Queen ever to represent Days of Real Sport. She has the poise – not to mention the riding ability – that's rare even in older girls. "Beka is a court advisor's dream, quite honestly," said Sandra Farley, who has taken on that role for this year's races in Waitsburg. "I've been doing this five years and she is the most qualified girl we've had. She is a fabulous rider and has excellent speaking skills."

A new wrinkle for the Second Annual Waitsburg "One of a Kind" Chili Cook-Off, set to get cooking at Preston Park, will be the Mr./Mrs. Chili Pepper 2000 Pageant. And it should be a hot one.
Waitsburg High School's drama class will be offering "An Eveniing of One Acts," curtain time 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17 in the High School Auditorium. Tickets are $2.00 for adults, $1.00 for students without ASB, Free for students with ASB cards, and children 6 and under are free. Box office will open at 6:40.
Fun Night at the Touchet Grange hall was held April 28, with a good turnout of members and friends. The tasty diner was followed by games of your choice and door prizes for everyone.

Waitsburg takes fifth place in Dayton track meet. This cool spring has made it a rather uncomfortable season for track meets and other vernal equinox sports, but the Cards managed a fifth place last weekend in the Dayton Invitational against some rather stiff competition.

Fans who enjoy watching beautifully trained horses, will not only get a thrill out of the races at Days of Real Sport in Waitsburg on May 28, 29, 30, but will also be entertained by a polo match between Toppenish, Spokane, and Boise which will be played off between races on all three days. There will be two teams from Toppenish, one from Spokane, and one from Boise, in a 3-way play-off of 8 minute chukkers between races.
Over 800 Shriners gathered in Waitsburg Saturday afternoon for a spring parade and ceremonial. Carl C. Quackenbush, former atheletic coach here, is not Potentate of Spokane El Katif Temple, Mystic Nobles of the Shrine.

Our old bridge across the Touchet River at the foot of Main Street is now no more. The contractors in charge of the new construction of the new concrete bridge, attached cables to the top of the bridge and tipped the super-structure of the bridge into the stream as being the quickest way of getting it out of the way.

A.W. Phillips of Coppei, with a force of men, this week are erecting a large fruit-dryer in order to care for the large crop of prunes which he expects this season. Mr. Phillips says the dryer will accommodate about eight tons of fruit at one time.
The young people of the Epworth League of the Methodist Church, of Dayton gave the farce "Old Maids Convention," at the opera house in this city, on the last Friday evening. There were 21 young ladies in the cast.
