Washington candidate filing ends May 9

OLYMPIA — The period for candidates to file began May 5 and will end on May 9, 2025, at 5 p.m. Candidates can file online, by mail, and at county election offices statewide.

Applicants are encouraged to file online. Information on open offices and filing fees is available on the Office of the Secretary of State’s election website: https://www.sos.wa.gov/elections#candidates.

“Candidate filing is the first step in running for office, and we continue to work toward making this process as accessible and easy as possible with our online filing option,” Secretary of State Steve Hobbs said. “Serving as an elected official is an important way to get involved with your community, whether at the local, state, or federal level.”
