Volunteers make the Ladies Invitational a success

Dear Editor,

We want to thank everyone who helped make our Touchet Valley Ladies Invitational Golf Tournament a huge success last Wednesday, August 21. Sixty-five ladies teed up from as far away as Hepner and La Grande in Oregon, the Lewiston area of Idaho, and the Tricities and Walla Walla. The local businesses who contributed to our Dayton-themed raffle basket should get a standing ovation for their generosity. Grazy K, operated by Kendra Stallcop, catered a wonderful grazing table for a unique and beautiful lunch.

The Touchet Valley Ladies Golf Club is a small group of women who host other clubs at the Touchet Valley Golf Course in Dayton for a few hours annually. The men who assist with washing carts and helping get carts lined out on tournament day also need to be recognized for their efforts. The level of volunteering that happens in this community always amazes us.

This brings to mind the new look of the golf course and the clubhouse area. Volunteers were responsible for the beautiful flowers that surrounded the entryway. The flower bed in the front of the club’s lawn is now a memorial garden sponsored by the Richter Family. Kyle Anderson of Kyle’s Towing generously donated the river rock and boulders for this project. And just today, Jayden Walker of Walker’s Fab Lab installed the new steel golf silhouettes. Whether you golf or not, this course is a great asset to our community. It creates traffic through town, which helps our businesses. Thanks to this community for all you do.

Sincerely,

Claudia Nysoe
