Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

The Blue Mountain Artists Guild to Exhibit at WAG

WAITSBURG-Local artists Brenda North, Michele Smith, Lorna Barth,

Ellen Heath, Rori Budden, and Heather Sterns will exhibit their work at Waitsburg Art Garden (WAG) on Saturday, June 17 from 8:30 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Brenda North started painting in 2011 after moving to Dayton. She began with acrylic and oil, but for the last few years has focused on watercolor. "Although my subjects are varied, I love painting landscapes and florals."

Michele Smith is principally a watercolor artist working in this medium since 2012. She prefers painting atmospheric landscapes. "I also like capturing motion whether in a bird's flight, in the waves of the ocean, in cloudbursts or the patterns of sand."

Lorna Barth paints on unusual surfaces, including recycled blue jeans, OSB plywood, soffit, and sourdough. Each of her works is an ongoing story created to transport the viewer to another time and place with the artist. She is the owner and creator of StonehengeArt and has created gallery videos for BMAG. She currently serves on the board of ArtWalla, creating videos for its annual fundraiser ArtSquared 2023. In July, her art will be featured at Mama Monacelli's Kitchen in Walla Walla.

Ellen Heath has been capturing the world around her with watercolors for 20 years and teaches classes on ZOOM. The animals, people and landscapes of Eastern Washington are her favorite subjects. She has lived in the Walla Walla area since college days and currently enjoys her home in the Blue Mountain foothills.

Rori Budden is a process artist formally trained in sculpture, photography, and installation art. Having acquired skills in drawing, watercolor, print making and mixed media, Rori uses objects, tools, and media to create work which is heavily influenced by the world around. More about her work is online #hummingbird_inspirations on Instagram.

Heather Stearns is a teaching artist, explorer, and art minister in Walla Walla, Wash. Heather's primary mediums are plein air sketching and nature journaling, rooted in a desire to promote knowledge and appreciation of the natural world via the arts. She has been painting since 2017.

The Blue Mountain Artists Guild members meet at seven p.m. on the last Tuesday of each month in the Delany Building, adjacent to the Dayton Memorial Library, in Dayton. This is the first exhibition at WAG for the BMAG.
