Walla Walla VA Center to hold Memorial Day service May 26

WALLA WALLA—The Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center (Walla Walla VA) is holding a VIRTUAL Memorial Day Service on Thursday, May 26 at noon. The event will be streamed LIVE on Walla Walla VA’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/vawallawalla). This year, and every year, it is important for us to remember and honor those who were lost in service to this Nation, and for the sacrifices of their families whose loved ones are no longer here. The special guest speaker will be Trina Parrish, a U.S. Army Gulf War Veteran, who is currently the Commander of VFW Post #992 in Walla Walla. She is also the commander of District 17, the chairperson for the Walla Walla County Veterans Relief Advisory Board, and long-time supporter of Veterans and their families in the Walla Walla community.

The Walla Walla VA welcomes former Chaplain Benjamin “Ben” Vegors to the event. Chaplain Vegors served as Walla Walla VA’s chaplain for over 40 years before retiring in 2014 and is set to turn 100 years old later this year.

The VA invites all to join us for this special event. Please contact Linda Wondra, Public Affairs, at 509.386.1117 with any questions.

And remember –

“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.” – Unknown.
