Cardinals Fall to Pomeroy in District Playoffs, 45-41

COLFAX – The Waitsburg boys' basketball team built an early lead against Pomeroy here Friday, but couldn't hold on, as they fell in the district championship game, 45-41.

With the loss, the Cardinals were to move on to play Colton on Saturday.

The Cardinals outscored the Pirates 15-9 in second quarter, to build a 22-19 lead at the half. But Pomeroy came out hot in the third quarter, taking a 35-30 lead into the fourth, which Waitsburg couldn't overcome.

The Cardinal scoring was evenly spread against the Pirates. Kyle Gradwohl, Jordan Garrity and Jordan French each scored nine points. Garrity's points all came on three-pointers. Jacob Dunn added eight points.
