Alonzo Manning

July 15, 1948 - July 29, 2016

Alonzo (Lonnie) (Jughead) Manning died peacefully at his home with his animals.

Lonnie was born in Lewiston ID to Lon Manning and Hazel Manning. Lonnie attended grade school in Orofino, ID, then moved with his family to Dayton to the homestead on the North Touchet where he spent most of his life. His love was driving truck; if it wasn't logging truck it was grain truck or semi's; that's what he loved.

Lonnie loved his family. He never married or had any children, but he had nieces and nephews and cousin, great ones and great great ones, which he loved each and every one.  He loved having them all at his place at the pond; camping, swimming, riding 4-wheelers. BBQ'S  etc.

Lonnie retired in 2004 from Broughton land company.

He got to travel to Denali Alaska in 2002 and come back on the Alcan Highway with his brother-in-law Pete Paolino, then again in 2007.  He was blessed to travel on the inside passage to Ketchikan AK with his Mother Hazel Whitmire and experience his Alaska dream....spending time with his nephews Justin and Jared Dunleavy, Peter and Karen Paolino. Lonnie loved his two dogs Lucy and Marley those were his kids he would say.

With all of the physical issues going on with him he loved people. His last few years of his life he would go every morning to Dayton PT to have coffee with Loretta and visit with the rest of the staff....he then would go home and visit on the phone with his Sister Gladys.

He was a great fan of NASCAR.

He had a love of photography. He would help Jack Williams at times with pictures for the Dayton Chronicle.

Growing up he spent a lot of time with his cousin Doug Glenn from Lewiston, Ida. getting in trouble when were younger and continued on in there elder years..

He is survived by his sisters Gladys Snider, Karen Paolino, Brother Patrick Manning, his two dogs Lucy and Marley.

He was preceded in death by his father Alonzo (Lon) Manning, mother Hazel Whitmire, sister Maybelle Culbertson.

Celebration of Life will be held on Sept. 3, 2016 at 1 p.m. at his place at the pond. It will be a potluck and all are welcome.
