Sheriff's Office Gets Social

WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office is making an effort to meet the people where they are. And nowadays, that’s online. In late November, the Sheriff’s Office launched social media platforms on Facebook (www.facebook.com/WWSheriff), Twitter (@WWSheriff), and Instagram (@wallawallacountysheriff).

The platforms will allow us to directly engage and communicate with the people we strive to protect and to serve. This social media launch further exemplifies our dedication to public safety and our commitment to community partnership and transparency, Sheriff John Turner said in a press release.

WWSO will use social media the communicate with the public on issues of crime prevention, safety tips, community events, emergency notifications, criminal activity, wanted persons, and more.

The Sheriff’s Office also uses a specialized social network called Nextdoor.com. Nextdoor is a digital version of the old-fashioned neighborhood watch program. Through Nextdoor.com, users can communicate privately with neighbors to let them know about suspicious vehicles, traffic problems, or even to get help in finding a babysitter. Sign up for Nextdoor at http://www.nextdoor.com.
