The People I Work With

Linze Greenwalt

For those of us who are self-employed, the reason we most often give for putting up with the risk and uncertainty that goes along with that status is that we like being our own bosses. That, for me, is right up at the top of the list.

But there's another very important reason I enjoy the title of business owner: I get to choose the people I work with.

In the past couple of months I've gained two new co-workers at The Times, and I'm excited to have them both.

Many of our Columbia County readers already know Linze Greenwalt. She joined us at the beginning of last month after working four years at the Dayton Chamber of Commerce.

Linze is our new advertising manager, office manager, website manager and all-around Jack (Jill?) of All Trades. She's a California native (though we forgive her for that) and she and her husband, Tyler, have lived in Dayton for five years.

If you ever get the notion to advertise in The Times, by all means give Linze a call.

Michele Smith is onboard starting this week as a reporter covering Dayton and Columbia County. She formerly worked in that role for the Dayton Chronicle.

Michele Smith

If you attend meetings of the governing bodies of the city, county, schools, hospital or port, you'll likely see her there, taking copious notes.

Michele and her husband, Mike, retired to Dayton about three years ago. She's a Tri-Cities native and worked for many years at Kadlec Medical center.

While on the subject of people I work with, our Waitsburg reporter, Dena Wood, continues to do an outstanding job covering the town where this newspaper is headquartered.

Dena has lived in Waitsburg for about 25 years and soon she will no longer be a newcomer. She's the person to call if you have news from Waitsburg that our readers need to know about.

I'm very proud of this staff, and happy to have them all. I just hope they'll be willing to put up with me for awhile.
