The Dayton Chamber's new events coordinator, Katie Chavre, helps kids during the Fall Festival on Saturday.

DAYTON – Katie Chavre, who joined the Dayton Chamber of Commerce staff this week as Chamber assistant and event coordinator, helped put on the biggest event southeast Washington has seen in many years.

As a staff member at the Walla Walla Parks Dept., Chavre helped with the planning and setup of the Gentlemen of the Road Tour Stopover that was held in Walla Walla in August.

Chavre started her new job in Dayton last week, replacing former event coordinator Linze Greenwalt, who left the Chamber last month to join The Times as advertising manager.

Chavre is a Walla Walla native who graduated from Wa-Hi in 2011. She is also a 2014 graduate of Washington State University.

She started working at Walla Walla Parks during her sophomore year in high school. She helped with summer day camp and as an office assistant. Each summer Chavre also organized and put on classes for youth, including bike safety and marksmanship.

At the Chamber, Chavre will help organize and put on the many important Chamber events, including All Wheels Weekend, Dayton on Tour, Christmas Kickoff and many others.
