Waitsburg

June 4

Residential burglary reported on Dewitt Road; unknown suspect entered unoccupied home and took several items.

June 6

Deputies investigated a house fire on Murphy Street that was a total loss with no injuries reported; it was determined that the fire was caused by an electrical problem with the washing machine.

June 8

Malicious mischief to vehicle reported on Powell Road; neighbor scratched fender of vehicle with a rock.

Dayton

May 31

Possible harassment by family members reported on E. Main Street. Caller reporting a problem bear hanging around the area of milepost 5 on N. Touchet Road; information forwarded to fish and wildlife.

June 1

City workers reported that somebody broke into the dog pound and took two dogs. Caller on E. Dayton Avenue reported a silver Honda car belonging to the caller was taken from a friend in Walla Walla; call referred to Walla Walla for investigation. Illegal dumping of approximately four truckloads of cereal rye and yard clippings in a field north of Prescott near Shea and Barger roads. Reckless driver in a red car on E. Main Street; deputies located the vehicle and forwarded information to the prosecutor’s office on 29-year-old Miguel Acevedo for possible charging. Caller reported that over the weekend while staying in various places around Dayton, medication was stolen from the caller’s unlocked vehicle.

June 2

Unwanted subject reported at a residence on W. Cameron Street; subject left prior to deputy arrival. Suspicious lights on in a storage shed on Magill Road where they shouldn’t be; deputies responded but did not locate anyone in the area.

June 3

Three fraudulent calls reported: two from people claiming to be with the IRS and one from someone claiming to be Donald Trump with a $2 million prize to be delivered in an hour – Trump never showed up. Caller on Highway 12 near milepost 378 was following a vehicle and saw the driver throw a pop bottle out of the window. Complaint of a truck parked in a motorcycle-designated parking spot on E. Main Street. Continually barking dog reported on E. Richmond Avenue.

June 4

Walla Walla University called to report that one of its airplanes crashed on New York Island on the Snake River above Little Goose Dam, but the pilot instructor and student were uninjured and had returned to the university; the aircraft apparently flipped over on its top while landing on the island and the investigation is being handled by federal officials. City hall employee reported an irate citizen causing a disturbance in the lobby over a billing dispute; subject left prior to deputy arrival. Fight between several juveniles on S. 3rd Street; deputies and WSP troopers responded but did not locate anyone in the area. Theft of a cell phone by a friend reported on W. Cameron Street. Caller reported a yellow ATV being driven up and down the alley behind E. Richmond Avenue. Dayton resident Terry Wilson, 45, was cited on S. 4th Street on suspicion of driving with a suspended license. Report came in from Walla Walla Dispatch of possible spot lighters in the area of Lyons Ferry Road; deputies were unable to locate.

June 5

Dayton resident William Savage, 42, was cited on S. 4th Street on suspicion of driving with a suspended license. Caller on E. Dayton Avenue reported a juvenile neighbor shooting a pellet gun at a target in the area.

June 6

Deputies responded to assisted Walla Walla Sheriff’s Office with a possible fight on Preston Avenue in Waitsburg. Indecent exposure reported on S. 2nd Street; a naked man was allegedly sitting in a tree at the city park but deputies did not located any naked people in trees or anywhere else in the park. Report of an ATV being driven in the area of E. Richmond Avenue.
