Jan. 9

Student arrested for Minor in Possession of alcohol (MIP) and Possession of Marijuana on Coppei Avenue.

Jan. 12

Chainsaw taken from unlocked garage on Walnut Street.

Dayton

Jan. 6

Theft of a child’s 4-wheeler reported on E. Hannan Street. Burglary reported on N. 4th Street; garage was broken into but nothing was taken. Fraudulent phone calls reported on S. 5th Street. Fight reported, verbal only, on E. Hannan Street. Threats reported on S. 3rd Street. Unwanted subject at a residence on Eckler Mountain Road.

Jan. 7

Report of a reckless vehicle nearly striking a pedestrian on S. 3rd Street. Vandalism to car on S. Willow Street; nail pounded into a tire. Parking problem reported; vehicle was parked in front of a fire hydrant on W. Commercial Street. Bicycle stolen from E. Jackson Street.

Jan. 8

Verbal domestic argument reported at Country Village Courts; resolved by deputy contact. Possible trespassing reported on Tucannon Road; resident found stocking cap near the home that does not belong to any occupants. Four complaints received from different citizens reporting fraudulent phone calls from someone claiming to work for the IRS. Possible threats reported at the Columbia County Fairgrounds.

Jan. 9

Theft of hood and radiator from a disused vehicle on E. Oak Street; owner unsure when the theft occurred but stated it must have been sometime in the last several weeks. Credit card fraud reported on E. Tremont Street. Possible indecent exposure reported on Wagon Road; caller thought a male in the neighborhood was defecating in the bushes, however deputies found no evidence of such when they contacted the man. Fraudulent charges on a debit card reported on Spring Lane. Non-injury collision occurred on Highway 12 near milepost 369 when a vehicle struck a deer. Caller on S. 5th Street reported a deer head in her yard; a deputy responded and removed it. Fraudulent phone call from a man claiming to be the homeowner’s grandson in jail and needing cash cards from Safeway to help him bail out. Dayton woman Casey Dunn, 21, was arrested on a local warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle without a valid license; Dunn was released from custody after posting cash bail.

Jan. 10

Resident on W. Patit Avenue reported hearing someone knocking on the house; deputies were unable to locate anyone in the area. Two erratic vehicles observed on Highway 12, one westbound from milepost 360 and the other eastbound from milepost 367; deputies were unable to locate either vehicle. Mail was found on the floor at PDQ on E. Main Street; returned to owner. Possible cougar sighting on S. 1st Street; deputies assisted Fish & Wildlife officers but were unable to locate the animal. Intoxicated male reported in the middle of an intersection on E. Main Street; man walked to the sheriff’s office and was given a courtesy ride home.

Jan. 11

Dayton driver Michael Cameron, 30, was cited and released on E. Main Street on suspicion of driving with a suspended license in the third degree. Deputies responded to assist a stranded boater on the Snake River after it was reported that the boater had run out of fuel up river from the mouth of the Tucannon. Deputies later learned that the boater and a friend were down river from Lyon’s Ferry Marina. They were located near marker 21 on the Franklin County side of the river and were provided with a lift by deputies back to the marina.

Jan. 12

A complaint about turkeys in a yard on E. Washington Avenue was forwarded to the state Fish & Wildlife office. Dayton woman Lee Anne Andrews, 46, was cited and released on Highway 12 at milepost 366 on suspicion of driving with a suspended license. Deputies had an abandoned motorcycle on S. Cottonwood Street towed. Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious adult male on E. Commercial Street who yelled at the caller’s daughter while she was riding her bike and then chased her for a short distance on foot; deputies were unable to locate the suspect.
