Guilty Plea in Sex Photo Case

Robert Bridwell will serve 31-41 months after agreeing to plea deal

DAYTON – A Dayton man will serve up to 41 months in prison after agreeing to a plea deal on charges relating to sexual photos he took of an underage girl in 2013.

Robert Bridwell, 65, pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor last week, which is a class B felony. According to Columbia County Prosecutor Rea Culwell, Bridwell is scheduled to be sentenced in Columbia County Superior Court on Feb. 18. He is currently being held in the Columbia County jail.

Bridwell was arrested on Sept. 16, 2013, after a search warrant was served at his home in Country Village Court in Dayton. During the search a cell phone memory card was found which allegedly contained photos Bridwell had taken of underage girls.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s office began investigating Bridwell in May of that year after a Dayton homeowner reported suspicious activity in a garage she rented to Bridwell.

Bridwell initially pleaded not guilty and was released on bail early last year. He had been scheduled for trial this spring.
