WP's Jaidyn Brown (14) and Paige Wood (2) go for a block as a TCP player slams one over the net.

WAITSBURG - WP fought hard in a Sept. 30 away game against WWVA, but dropped the league game in three close matches. Set scores were 23- 25, 21-25, and 20-25. The Lady 'Cards struggled more against Tri Cities Prep in a home court league match on Oct. 2, falling in three sets, 16-25, 12-25 and 14-25.

Stat leaders for WWVA were: Athziry Amezcua with 7 digs, Jaidyn Brown with 3 kills, Kassidy Kuykendall with 8 assists, Paige Wood with 8 kills, 6 digs, 4 aces, Samantha Fedderson with 8 kills, 5 blocks and 8 digs and Taylor Hays with 6 digs.

"We played really well against WWVA and just had trouble finishing each set. The girls were in better positions on defense and able to dig most everything hit to them. They worked well together and had good communication on the court. We also passed well on serve receive and were able to get some things set up on offense. They did a good job of keeping WWVA's defense off balance and on the move," said Coach Angie Potts.

Stat leaders against Tri-Cities Prep were: Samantha Fedderson 4 kills, 4 blocks, 9 digs; Kassidy Kuykendall 5 assists, Paige Wood 3 aces.

"TCP has a strong offensive team and even though we started out really well, we just weren't able to maintain our intensity," said Potts. "We'll make some adjustments on defense when we face them again in a couple of weeks."
