Youth Football played jamboree at Athena

Waitsburg’s youth football team had three scrimmages at a jamboree in Athena on Saturday, September 19. The team won one and lost two.

In the first game, two players sustained injuries, leaving only eight boys for the remaining two scrimmages. Waitsburg’s Julian Gillentine, Gavin Watkins, and Isaac Knudson scored touchdowns.

“The team played with a lot of pride,” said coach Daniel Watkins.

“A couple of players had to change to unfamiliar positions, but they performed well. Our defense struggled in some areas, but overall, the tackling has improved. The team is making huge strides every week. The coaches are proud of how the team rallied together,” said Watkins.
