Pirates Are 4-0 after Win Over Irrigon

PRESCOTT - The WP Pirates soccer team completed a successful first two weeks, piling up a 4-0 record and giving up only two total goals.

On Sept. 12, Riverside High School, from Boardman, Ore., traveled to Prescott, where the Pirates prevailed, 4-1. Ivan Figueroa scored a hat trick and Luis Garcia added a goal.

WP dominated Walla Walla Valley Academy in there next game, on Sept. 17, getting a 7-0 shutout. Luis Garcia had four goals for the Pirates, with one each from Ricardo Flores, Ernesto Valdovinos and Tyler Fedderson. Goalkeeper Christian Cano had one save on the game.

On Saturday, WP hosted Northwest Christian, and came away with a 5-0 shutout. On this day, it was Ernesto Valdovinos' turn to dominate scoring. Valdovinos scored three times, with Ivan Figueroa and Luis Garcia adding a goal each. Cano had two saves.

In Monday night's game against Irrigon, the Pirates cruised to a 5-1 win at home. Valdovinos scored twice, with Jose Paniagua, Ivan Figueroa scoring one each. Christian Cano came out of the goal box to add a late goal. Cano also had two saves.

The Pirates were to make their first appearance away from home with a game in Dayton against the Bulldogs on Wednesday.
