Elvis Rocks Dayton

Elvis Presley tribute artist Justin Shandor brought down the house Friday night in the Dayton High School auditorium, during All Wheels Weekend. A nearly-packed crowd enjoyed the two-hour show, which was moved from the outdoor stage downtown, due to inclement weather. "I don't think Dayton has ever seen entertainment of this quality before," said AWW chairperson Bette Lou Crothers.

DAYTON - A little rain and chilly weather only dampened spirits slightly during last weekend's 20th annual All Wheels Weekend event here.

Early registration for classic car entrants was about 40 higher than any previous year, but at least 50 fewer cars arrived than expected for Saturday's Show & Shine, according to event chair Bette Lou Crothers.

Friday night's cruising was nearly rained out, as was the outdoor stage where live music was planned.

The Ultimate Elvis concert Friday night was moved to the Dayton High School Auditorium. A nearly packed house heard an awesome show. The band did a great job setting up, and almost missed dinner, according to organizers.

A special "hats off" goes to the crew who scrambled to get the auditorium ready to go on short notice, including Joe Huether, Dan Nechodom, John Delp and Superintendent Doug Johnson.

"People came up to me all day Saturday to say what a great show it was," said Crothers. "Friday was a tough day, but that made it much better."
