Teixeira Shines at Sub-Districts

WALLA WALLA - Dayton's Oscar Teixeira picked up an impressive win in the 110 meter hurdles last week in the District 9 2B Sub-district meet here. He also placed second in the 100 meter dash.

Teixeira's 110 time of 16.85 seconds was barely a tenth of a second faster than the second and third place finishers, WP's Owen Lanning and Kobie Brown.

Teixeira, an exchange student from Finland, advanced to this week's District meet in Moscow, Ida., and has an excellent shot at two births at the state meet.

Dayton's Kaitlyn Andrews also had an outstanding meet, winning both the javelin and long jump competitions, while picking up a second in the triple jump and third in the 100 meter dash.

A big surprise for Dayton was sophomore Angela Mascall, who secured a bid at Districts with a fourth place finish in the 100 meters. She also qualified in the 200 meters, placing seventh.

Carissa Price will join her teammates in Moscow, after finishing fourth in the long jump and seventh in the 100 meters.
