Dayton Overwhelms WWVA in 4th

COLLEGE PLACE – As the Lady Bulldogs entered the fourth quar­ter, trailing Walla Walla Valley Academy by nine points, Madison Mings caught fire. In the final frame, Mings scored 16 of her game-high 22 points, including three 3-point­ers.

Dayton outscored the Knights 21-4 in the fourth quarter to win the game, 39-31.

The Bulldogs played evenly with WWVA in the first half, and led 16- 15 at the break. Dayton struggled in the third, as the Knights outscored them, 12-2.

Besides her 22 points, Mings also pulled down nine rebounds. Sidney An­drews was second highest scorer for the Lady ‘Dogs with nine points.

The WWVA win came on the heels of a 52-33 Dayton loss to Asotin, also on the road.

The Lady ‘Dogs final regular season game is Fri­day night at home against rival Waitsburg-Prescott.

Dayton is currently third in Southwest 2B league play, with a 5-4 league record. The team is 12-7 overall.

The Lady ‘Dogs will next play in the District 9 Tournament beginning February 5. Sub-regional playoffs begin February 13.
