Lady Cards Squeak By Mac-Hi

WP's Samantha Fedderson watches the ball as she scores a goal at the December 17 game against the Mac-Hi Pioneers. Fedderson was high scorer of the game with 14 points, followed closely by Chelsey Brannock with 13.

WAITSBURG - The WP girls took their first win of the season in a pre-league nail-biter against the Mac-Hi Pioneers here by a score of 42-38 on December 17.

Both teams played hard and re­mained neck-and-neck throughout the game. At the end of the third quarter the Pioneers were ahead with a score of 27-28. The teams were tied at 33 points early in the fourth quarter, when WP changed tactics in response to the Pioneers' outside shooting abilities. WP went man-to-man in response and took a slight lead.

WP's Sam Fedderson and Chelsey Brannock were influen­tial in sealing the four point win. Fedderson was WP high scorer with 14 points, all in the second half. Chelsey Brannock followed closely behind, scoring 13 points and making four assists.

Also scoring for WP were En­edina Fuentes with 6 points, Heidi Miller with 4, Loegan Harshman with 3 and Paige Wood with 2. Harshman made one 3 point goal and Fedderson brought 12 of WP's 28 rebounds.

On Saturday, the WP girls lost to WWVA at home, 36-33.

The Lady 'Cards' next game is December 30 at home against Clarkston.
