Campbell Shines in Loss to Pirates

POMEROY - WP's Chris Campbell knocked down four 3-point shots Saturday, and scored 16 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome a tall Pomeroy team. The Pi­rates beat the Cardinals in an offensive battle, 67-62.

WP came out strong and led at the end of the first quarter, 21-8. The Pirates battled back, cutting WPs lead to two at the half, 36-34. The Cardinals struggled in the third quarter and were outscored 17-5, leaving them with a 10-point deficit they couldn't overcome.

WP showed balanced scoring: Chance Leroue had 12 points, Owen Lanning 11, Devin Acevedo 10 and Jacob Dunn nine.

The Cardinals next take on Weston-McEwan at home Friday night, and then host Dayton Saturday.
