August 29, 2013

The Columbia County Rural Library District and The Liberty Theater in Dayton have come together to present a Banned Books Week kick-off event on Saturday, September 21. A free screening of the recently digitally re-mastered classic film, "To Kill a Mockingbird" will be offered. 11 a.m. at the Liberty Theater, on Dayton's Main Street.

Before the movie, a group of local readers -Roslyn Edwards, Kirsten Schober, Dale Slack and Nyssa Zanger - will read selections from their favorite banned or challenged books. The public is invited to bring their own copies of their favorite banned books and have their mug-shots taken in the lobby before or after the show.
