Blue Mountain Land Trust “Learning the Land” Hike

Here's a riddle: What's smaller than a baseball, but has a huge impact on our local economy? If insects came to mind, you're on the right track! Millions of bees, beetles, and butterflies are critical to the flowers and fruits of our crops, gardens, and natural areas.

Blue Mountain Land Trust invites you on a unique morning of discovery for "What's the Buzz?" On Sat- urday, May 25th at 10:00am, we'll be searching out some of the insects that pollinate our flowers. This program will be led by Sandy DeBano, an invertebrate ecologist at Oregon State University and local bug expert.

We will hike along the Walla Walla River in Oregon exploring insect activity of late spring. Open to par- ticipants of all ages, there is a $10 program fee, free to children under 12 when accom- panied by an adult. Regis- tration is required as space is limited. For details and registration, call Blue Moun- tain Land Trust at (509) 525- 3136, or visit www.bmlt.org. This program is the second in the 2013 Learning on the Land series.
