No Snowflakes In Summer

Yara, Dominic and Scott Underwood are now in the Snowflake building at 139 Main.

DAYTON - Jitters may be closed, but the Underwoods remain on Main.

Scott and Yara Underwood, who started Jitters more than a year ago, closed the coffee shop at the end of May citing an overload of work for their young family.

But the household still needed a place to relocate their PC Solutions operations, which had been in the back of the building, so they got the store front that's popularly known as the "Snowflake" building.

"This is the first space we've set up exactly how we wanted," said Scott Underwood, who started his computer service business in 2007.

The Underwoods signed a lease option to buy the entire building, which also house C.W. & Friends pet grooming, a business that has been for sale.

The couple estimates there's about 700 square in the portion at 139 Main where they've set up their front office, computer repair and assembly shop and break area. Yara plans to staff the reception are in front, while Scott works in the back and helps clients at their location.

A Main Street presence was important to the Underwoods, whose clients often bring by their hardware and will now have more parking.

Since they opened their new space, the Underwoods have had to cover up the historical Snowflake advertising mural that once promoted crackers made in Walla Walla. The old paint peels, while the wall issues dust into the sensitive work space.

But Scott Underwood said he wants to explore the possibility of sealing the big wall ad so the popular relic can be visible.

PC Solutions is open Mo- Thur., 10-5; Fridays 10-1. Call 509-382-1030.
