DAYTON - The Dayton girls' basketball team woke up at halftime and cruised to any easy win over Pomeroy at home on Dec. 9, 41-22. The victory gave the 2-1 Cardinals a split in their series with Pirates, after losing at home a week earlier. PRESCOTT - WP sophomore soccer player Ivan Figueroa was nominated by a community member and selected by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association as one of its Athletes of the Week. Figueroa blasted goals in two playoff games last month, as his team took second place at the state tournament in Sumner. SPOKANE - The WP Tigers soccer team got a huge win Friday, beating St. George's, 2-0, in a state quarterfinals game. The Tigers travel to Sumner, Wash. this week to play Friday Harbor in their semifinals game Friday. A win would put them in the state championship game Saturday.
