Scalloped potatoes sound boring, but it’s great comfort food. I haven’t met anyone that doesn’t like the dish—but I’m sure they are out there somewhere. Betty Lee Mosley, a resident of College Place, died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in the Washington Odd Fellows Home in Walla Walla. She was 81 years old. No services are planned at this time. Ten Years Ago December 28, 2006 Danielle Coila and Jeremy Nichols were recently named “Youths of the Month” for the month of December by the Exchange Club of Walla Walla. Coila and Nichols were honored at a luncheon at the Elks Club in Walla Walla on December 11 for their outstanding achievement at Waitsburg High School. Ten Years Ago December 21, 2006 The edge of the storm system that blasted Portland and Seattle last week also did some pruning around Waitsburg. At numerous locations around town, branches were down in streets and yards. Lola Burch Beckley Speratos died on November 19th, 2016 at the age of 94. She was born May 13th, 1922 in Waitsburg, WA to Clarence and Anna Danielson Burch. Clarence was a janitor for many years in the Waitsburg school system where Anna was a teacher. Lola graduated from Waitsburg High in 1940 and soon after married Royce Beckley and had two children Russell and Louise. Lola was preceded in passing by her husband Royce and her son Russell. Sorry, but this doesn’t have a title. Melissa, who works at the Blue Mountain Station, made this squash in two very large pans for the Thanksgiving dinner that was served at our church.
