Relay For Life of the Blue Mountains has announced that its annual relay event will be held September 21 and 22 in Dayton at the high school athletic complex on South Cottonwood St. This year's theme is "Lights, Camera, A 'Cure'!" DAYTON - The Columbia County Fair 4-H & FFA Livestock Sale will take place at the Dayton Fairgrounds at 12:30 p.m. on September 7. DAYTON - A new grief support group will begin September 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Dayton. The group will use the book "Understanding Your Grief" and will follow the same format used by Hospice of Walla Walla. The class will run ten consecutive weeks and will be a closed group. SPOKANE - Final sentencing for 43-year-old Santiago Contreras Orozco, who was arrested in Columbia County in July 2011 at the scene of a large marijuana bust in the upper Tucannon River drainage, has been delayed at the federal court level. A 52-year-old woman from the Tri-Cities was accidentally shot in the foot with a .22 pistol on Cougar Canyon Road, in Columbia County, on the evening of Saturday, June 22. The victim had just recently purchased the gun, and her husband was dem- onstrating how to clear the chamber of bullets when the weapon accidentally discharged and shot her in the ankle.
