Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

At the Liberty:"Sense and Sensibility"

DAYTON — “Sense and Sensibility” follows the Dashwood sisters as they leave their Sussex estate for a modest home, navigating love, financial challenges, and societal expectations in Regency England. This adaptation features a strong cast including Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles. It offers a fresh yet faithful take on Jane Austen’s classic. Early buzz highlights its charm, wit, and emotional resonance, making it a promising watch for period drama fans. It is rated PG for thematic elements, partial nudity, and brief violence, and runs 132 minutes.

Opening weekend audiences rated “Sense and Sensibility” at 90%. An enthusiastic audience member said, “The film was an absolutely amazing adaptation of the book. Combining the best parts of the 1995 version and of the 2005 ‘Pride and Prejudice.’ The film wraps its audience in a dreamy and romantic lens that keeps the audience wanting more.” One critic wrote, “This wistful take on the sisters has much to say about girlhood and coming into one’s own. Edgar-Jones and especially Creed-Miles are excellent as two young women discovering their place in a confusing world.” The Historic Liberty Theater is a perfect place to watch this timeless story.
