Tompkins Withdraws from County Auditor Race to serve as Interim Fairgrounds Manager

WALLA WALLA — Greg Tompkins withdrew from the Walla Walla County Auditor race. In a press release, dated June 13, 2024, Tompkins said he ended his candidacy to serve as the interim manager of the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds and to focus on the upcoming Walla Walla Fair and Frontier Days.

“I entered the County Auditor’s race because I care deeply about Walla Walla County and believe in effective, honest and accessible county government,” Tompkins said. “That same commitment is what leads me to step away from the campaign at this time. The fairgrounds and the Walla Walla Fair and Frontier Days are important to families, youth, exhibitors, volunteers, businesses, and visitors throughout our region. This interim role deserves my full attention, and I want to give it the focus and energy it needs.”

Tompkins said his immediate priority will be helping the fairgrounds team, volunteers, partners, and county leadership prepare for a strong and well-organized fair season.

As he concludes his campaign, Tompkins encourages voters to remain engaged in the County Auditor race, become informed, and vote.

He also stated his intent to apply for the permanent Fairgrounds Manager position.
