At the Liberty:"The Devil Wears Prada 2" May 22-26

DAYTON — As Miranda Priestly nears retirement, she reunites with Andy Sachs to face off against her former assistant turned rival: Emily Charlton.

Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci return to their iconic roles as Miranda, Andy, Emily, and Nigel after 20 years. “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” the highly anticipated sequel to the 2006 phenomenon that defined fashion.

Rated: PG-13 for strong language and some suggestive references, and has a runtime of 120 minutes.

The consensus of RottenTomatoes.com critics was “Meryl Streep still wears Miranda Priestly like a finely tailored suit in this sinfully enjoyable sequel, which is dressed to the nines in off-the-rack wish fulfillment and some trenchant observations about the state of modern media.”

The “Devil Wears Prada 2” audience gave it a positive rating of 85% on RottenTomatoes.com. One audience member wrote, “That’s how you do a sequel! Whole new story with the same cast with all the Easter Eggs to tie to the original with more character development and closure that you didn’t get to see from the first one!

This Saturday, May 23, starting at 11 a.m., the theater will show “Broughton Family Films” following the parade. These are the family movies of Charles J. Broughton II and Clarence M. Bishop Sr., taken in the late 1920s and 30s in the Dayton, Washington, area.

Activities shown include a horse-drawn combine, a 1930s wheat harvest, and other family activities.

The home movies will be on a loop, so visitors can stop by at any time to step back into time.

Auditions for the Fall Production of “The Wizard of Oz” will be on June 1 at 6 p.m. for kids ages 5 to 14, June 3 at 6 p.m. for adults. June 4 will be for anyone who could not attend the previous dates. Be ready to sing and read parts. Music and monologues will be supplied. This show will be directed by Brenda Henderson and Stephanie Snyder. There will be 14 shows from November 13 to December 5.
