Waitsburg community members honored

WAITSBURG - The Waitsburg Commercial Club held its annual meeting and awards dinner at Waitsburg Town Hall on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

Guests enjoyed dinner, wine and beer, and a dessert auction. Commercial Club President Tiffany Baxter nominated officers and attending members approved Brittany Crane as President, Karen Huwe as first Vice President, Paul Mantz-Powers as second Vice President, Joy Smith as Treasurer, and Tiffany Baxter as Secretary.

After dinner, Karen Huwe presented Waitsburg Middle School Senior Mattilyn Carter with the Youth of the Year Award.

Weller Public Library Director Sarah Roberts received the Employee of the Year Award from Waitsburg Cit Council Member Jillian Henze.

Waitsburg City Council Member Jillian Henze presented Sarah Roberts with the Employee of the Year award for her dedicated work at the Weller Public Library.

Gloria Wilson, owner of Simply Sawdust, was awarded the Business of the Year Award.

Tiffany Baxter presented the Business of the Year award to Gloria Wilson, owner of Simply Sawdust. The surprised Wilson received a standing ovation from the attendees.

Joan Helm was awarded the 2026 Citizen of the Year Award, presented by "The Times" publisher Lane Gwinn.

Joan Helm was presented the 2026 Citizen of the Year by "The Times" publisher, Lane Gwinn. Helm was recognized as a serious and conscientious advocate for her community, including her work to save the Prescott School District.
