DAYTON - On March 19, 2026, Tekoa-Rosalia played against the Bulldogs in Dayton. In the 10- 0 win, the Bulldogs had 20 runs, 10 hits, and no errors. TR came in with no runs, no hits, and three errors.
Dayton's battery was Marissa Tupling as pitcher and Kyla Thurston as catcher.
Thurston had three hits; Jaelynn Chapman and Janie Howard had two; and Tupling, Skylar Johnson, and Alexa Jones with one each.
The Bulldogs opened strong and enjoyed returning to the field after earlier weather delays.
Tupling pitched a no-hitter, faced only 10 batters, and struck out six. Thruston led the Bulldogs at the plate, going three for three with a double, a homerun, and driving in six runs. The team delivered a great overall effort.
Following their home game, the Bulldogs faced two non-league teams in a Yakima tournament on Saturday.
In the first game, Dayton lost to DeSales, 15-5. The Bulldogs had five runs, three hits, and seven errors, while DeSales won with 15 runs, 9 hits, and one error.
Tupling and Thurston were the battery for the game. Trump, Thurston, and Janie Howard provided the three hits for the Bulldogs.
The Dayton girls had a few bobbles early in the game and allowed DeSales to score their first six runs as unearned. The Bulldogs hung in against their opponents until the bottom of the 5th, when a combination of six hits and two errors allowed DeSales to score seven runs. The game ended under the mercy rule.
DeSales has a great softball program and won the state championship in 2025. This was only Dayton's second game of the season, and the girls performed well against tough competition and can now focus on what needs improvement.
The Bulldogs lost to the Freeman Scotties, 10-0, in the second non-league game. Dayton had no runs, two hits, and five errors, while Freeman scored 10 runs on seven hits, and no errors.
Freeman High School is in Rockford, Wash., and is a 2B school. They competed in the State Championship game in 2025. The team is well-coached, with experienced players and an outstanding pitcher who struck out 15.
The Bulldogs were challenged by the more experienced team. The Dayton coaches appreciate these opportunities to see how their team performs against this level of competition. Kyla did a great job in the circle, allowing just seven hits and striking out seven. For the Scotties, the Ripke girls had a combined five hits and seven RBIs, including a double, a triple, and two home runs. Tupling led her team with two hits and a stolen base.
The Bulldogs are 1-0 in league play, and 1-2 overall.
