Sarah Wilson Wins FFA Poultry Award

WAITSBURG - Sarah Wilson, a senior at Waitsburg High School, recently won first place in FFA's Poultry Production-Entrepreneurship/Placement and will receive her award at the State Convention in May.

Wilson sent her application to a panel of FFA advisors, who reviewed all district applications at the Colfax District meeting for AG advisors. After receiving comments, she made edits before forwarding her updated application to the Washington FFA staff for further review.

Later, she and other award winners were announced on Facebook. Their applications will be sent to Nationals for award consideration.

To be considered for the award, Wilson demonstrated business planning and consistent record-keeping in her poultry operation. She earned this recognition through her chicken business, Bowhay's Tiny Raptors, which she opened with her grandmother, Yvonne Bowhay. There, she sells eggs and raises show-quality chicks and poultry.

"It is neat to see a student find a passion and watch their family support that passion," said advisor Nicole Abel.
