Ryleigh Fabian named Cardinal of the Year

WAITSBURG-Waitsburg Middle School's girls' basketball coach, Karen Huwe, held an awards assembly on Wednesday, March 11, in the high school auditorium.

Following the welcome, the assembly began with middle school ASB President Kaitlyn Paul leading the flag salute.

After the flag salute, Huwe thanked the crowd for supporting the players throughout the season and highlighted some of the drills and competitions that the girls competed in during practices.

Next, participation certificates were presented to the three managers, Dori Adkins, Olivia Long, and Arya Hillman. Players receiving certificates were Audrey Kiefel, Kaitlyn Paul, Lillian Carpenter, Laila Long, Peyton Childers, Ava McCaw, Shylo Hedges, Jaylynn Gleason, Ryleigh Fabian, Emma Langford, Adalin Acevedo, Reagan Fabian, and Oaklee Adams. 

Kiefel received the Most Inspirational award, and Adams was named Most Improved. Offensive Player of the Year went to Gleason. Ryleigh Fabian was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Cardinal of the Year.

With these recognitions, the team concluded their season with an impressive 9-1 record.
