Waitsburg Middle School's girls' basketball team won both the "B" and the "A" game against Touchet in Waitsburg on Monday, March 2. 

In the last game of the season, the "B" team won 35-10.  Emma Langford scored four points and had three steals. Adalin Acevedo scored six points and had five steals. Shylo Hedges rebounded six, and Peyton Childers scored three points, had three steals, and rebounded six. Oaklee Adams scored four points, stole three, and rebounded nine.  Lillian Carpenter scored seven, Jaylynn Gleason scored four points, and Reagan Fabian had three steals.

This was the last game for eighth-graders Lillian Carpenter, Audrey Kiefel, Kaitlyn Paul, and Laila Long, who were participating in Cardinal basketball as middle school players. Before the start of the "A" game, the girls and their families were recognized.

Gleason contributed eight points. Point guard Ryleigh Fabian scored five points and grabbed eleven rebounds. Carpenter scored six points and collected seven offensive rebounds. Long added four points with seven rebounds. Kiefel contributed five points, four steals, and six rebounds. Paul scored seven points. All contributed to the Cardinals' 45-14 win.

"Waitsburg ended the first half of the game leading by one point and then exploded for 18 points in the third quarter to take a commanding lead," said Coach Karen Huwe.

The Cardinals ended their season with a 9-1 record.
