Lady Cardinals Continue Winning Streak 

WAITSBURG - Waitsburg Middle School girls' basketball team took a slim 9-8 lead after one quarter against Liberty Christian of Walla Walla, then held them scoreless in the second quarter to lead 16-8 at halftime. The Cardinals let up a little in the third quarter but held the Patriots scoreless in the fourth quarter to win 23-14 on Monday, February 2.

"Liberty Christian beat us by eleven points last year, so it was great getting the win.  The defense is improving as we have held two teams scoreless in two quarters each this season," said Coach Karen Huwe.

 Jaylynn Gleason and Ryleigh Fabian scored six points each; Fabian also had four steals. Reagan Fabian scored five, Laila Long added three points and five rebounds, Audrey Kiefel scored two points and had four steals, and Ava McCaw contributed with one point.  

 On Wednesday, February 4, the Cardinals traveled to Prescott and defeated the Tigers 29-18.  Gleason led the team with 11 points and five rebounds.  Reagan Fabian scored seven, Long scored four and had seven rebounds, and Ryleigh Fabian scored three points.  Adalin Acevedo and McCaw scored two points each.
