Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

Waitsburg's fashion story to be told at Fall Festival – hoops to flappers

WAITSBURG - On Sunday, September 21, the Waitsburg Historical Society will host the Pioneer Fall Festival, with an afternoon of food, horse-drawn carriage rides, pioneer craft demonstrations, antique farm equipment, museum tours, and the "Vintage Style Show."

The Style Show begins at 1:30 p.m. and will feature clothing from the late 1800s to the Roaring Twenties-a journey from hoop skirts that concealed a woman's shape to more modern styles that accentuated it. Generous volunteers will model the clothes from the historical society's collection for the event. Seeing our ancestors' clothing as it was worn, including hoop skirts, dusters, flour sack prairie dresses, and a Waitsburg Academy band uniform, helps us gain a deeper understanding of their lives.

Embrace the heritage of the Touchet Valley at the Waitsburg Pioneer Fall Festival, Sunday, September 15, from noon to 4 p.m., and make a point to see the Vintage Style Show at 1:30 p.m. on the front lawn of the Bruce House on Main Street in Waitsburg, Washington.
