WAITSBURG - Waitsburg Booster Club held its annual "Back to School" kickoff for the Cardinals at the Waitsburg Elementary's multipurpose room on Tuesday, September 2.
The event was a big success, with lots of kids and community members who came to help start the new school year with enthusiasm and energy.
"This was the largest turnout yet," said Waitsburg Booster Club's President Ross Hamann.
David Long from Walla Walla DJ provided music, coaches introduced the fall sports teams, cheerleaders led the group in the fight song, and everyone enjoyed the BBQ dinner thanks to chefs Lance Carter and Marco Reyes.
"Everyone had a great time! It is going to be a great year, plus the Booster Club signed up over 20 new members and sold over $1500 of Waitsburg Cardinals' merchandise. All proceeds go right back to supporting our active and involved students," said Hamann.
The Waitsburg Booster Club meets on the first Tuesday of the month in the Waitsburg High School Cage at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on October 7. The new officers are President Ross Hamann, Vice-President Julie Karl, Secretary Lance Carter, and Treasurer Janet Tate.
Board members are Kim Hamann, Dave Tipton, Deanna Coulston, Wendy Carter, and Karen Huwe.
