MILTON-FREEWATER - For the first time, the Milton–Freewater Pioneer Posse will include a Junior Princess Court. The court consists of Waitsburg student Sydney Smith, Rylee Stowers from Prescott, Evangeline Pace, and Teagan Freemantle from Milton–Freewater. The Junior Princess Court is for girls aged 7 to 10 years old who can ride a horse on their own.
The young princesses will join the Royalty Court to ride in the Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days Parade on August 20. The Junior Princess Court advisor, Diana Prince, encourages everyone to come to this year's parade to cheer the girls on.
The 2025 Royalty Queen is Kira Filbrandt from Touchet. Princesses Abbigail and Mikayla Close are from Dayton. The Royalty Court Advisor is Kelly Skamstad.
The following events for the courts are the second week of the last mini-series on August 13 at 7 p.m., and the final awards night on September 7 at 4 p.m. Both events will take place at Pioneer Posse Arena. Prince, the Pioneer Posse President, said she was proud of the changes the board has made to improve the grounds so that attendees can better enjoy the yearly events. The buildings and grandstands have been painted, new panels have been added to the arena, and signs have been replaced.
Anyone interested in trying out for the 2026 Royalty Court or Junior Princess Court will need to complete an application by August 13. The tryouts will take place at the Pioneer Posse Arena on September 27.
