SNOHOMISH, WA - Scouts from Scouting America Troop 337 just returned from Camp Pigott, a camp organized by the Chief Seattle Council.
The eight scouts participated in classes including archery, canoeing, kayaking, leatherworking, and swimming. Each scout who attended camp earned between two and four merit badges during the week. Sidian Stegall, Katherine Roberts, Natalia Alleman, and Caedmon Gagnon all received awards for Archery Marksmanship.
Troop 337 is part of Scouting America's combined troop pilot program, allowing troops to be co-ed. The Waitsburg Lions Club is the charter organization for the troop. This year, with the Lions' support, the kids were able to attended a large, organized scout camp for the first time since the local troop was chartered in 2023. The troop also received local help from the Dayton American Legion to purchase supplies and from Waitsburg community members who supported the troop's firewood fundraiser.
At camp, the scouts participated in several camp-wide activities. The Omache Marathon was a multisport event where participants competed in swimming, biking, kayaking, and running over a 4.5-mile course around the campground. Two scouts from Troop 337 completed the marathon.
The scouts also participated in Charlie's Challenge, a competition where patrols worked together to overcome obstacles or tasks with teamwork and communication. They also participated in the Rendezvous Run, an 8-person multisport relay race around the camp.
The scouts' hard work, participation, and spirit resulted in them also achieving a ribbon as a Camp Pigott Honor Troop. This ribbon will be attached to the Troop Flag and be something the troop can celebrate for years to come.
Sarah Roberts is Troop 337 Committee Chair.
