Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

Kids are finding lots of summer fun activities in Waitsburg

WAITSBURG - The increased activity in Preston Park has been noticeable this year, with lots of action at the splash pad and pickleball courts. In addition, weekly camps have been organized by Waitsburg's Parks and Recreation, held in the park and at Simply Sawdust's "Slab." Adding to the Cheer Camp the P&R held last year, are pickleball, skateboarding, fly fishing, and soccer. Across from Preston Park, Palouse Valley Community Center is offering weekly summer camps with activities including drumming and fossil exploration.

The Weller Public Library has activities and friendly competitions to keep kids engaged for the summer. The library expanded its public area with a well-stocked "messy" room for arts and crafts. On Mondays, the Walla Walla YWCA brings its summer Fun Factory program to Ten Ton Art on Main Street. Each week, participants work with the Fun Factory staff on colorful art projects.

The Waitsburg Presbyterian Church and Waitsburg Christian Church are hosting True North, a Vacation Bible School. It is available for kids aged 3 to 6th grade and will be held from July 29 to August 1. The following day, August 2, the whole family is invited to Preston Park for BBQ and games from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
