WAITSBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT ANNOUNCES INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH

Superintendent David Woods resigned

On Thursday, Aug. 1, the Waitsburg School Board held a special meeting to address the immediate resignation of Superintendent David Woods, who had served in the role since July 1, 2023.

The board appointed Waitsburg School Board Chair Dr. Carol Clarke as acting superintendent. The board decided to begin the search for an Interim superintendent.

Clarke retired as the district's superintendent in 2017 and has served on the school board since December 2021. She has over 40 years of experience in education, teaching everything from early childhood education to graduate-level classes.

The school board has partnered with Educational Service District 123 to search for an Interim Superintendent. Interested applicants are asked to submit a current resume and letter of interest to Kaylee Bolt, Director of Human Resources for ESD 123, via email at kbolt@esd123.org. The deadline for submissions is noon on Thursday, Aug. 15. The board reserved the afternoon of Aug. 16 for interviews.

The school board is planning a comprehensive search for a permanent superintendent this fall. The interim appointment ensures continuity from the superintendent's office during the upcoming year.
