WALLA WALLA - Walla Walla Community College is celebrating the launch of its new Audio Engineering program with a fun-filled, two-day Open House and Jam Session later this month.
On Aug. 7 and 14, from 1 to 5 p.m., students and visitors are invited to WWCC's Walla Walla campus to check out the new audio lab in the Professional Technical J Building, where WWCC students will be able to learn about audio engineering, audio recording, digital audio, and live sound.
WWCC submitted the new Audio Engineering program for state approval, and it should begin in the Fall Quarter of 2024. The program will offer a one-year certificate, preparing students for work in the audio industry.
The college's new audio lab was crafted by the program's instructor, Rodney Outlaw, who is known in the Walla Walla community for his work teaching youth workshops about music and live sound. Open-house visitors can tour the lab and view the top-of-the-line recording software, audio plug-ins, mixing console, DAW control surface, and outboard gear.
Registration is now open for the Audio Engineering program, and college staff and workforce navigators will be at the open house to help identify grants, offer support with financial aid, and answer admission questions. Brief campus tours will also be available midway through the events.
